  1. So excited to hear how things go at SLO! We had a short film show there almost 17 years ago and the people there are fabulous. You will have a great experience!

  2. It looks like a beautiful film, very educational and personal. Virginia is a beautiful, intelligent, and interesting storyteller. Hopefully we will be able to see the film in Santa Barbara.

  3. I really want to buy and see this film but I can’t seem to be able to buy or download. William James Gande was a relative of mine. His grandad and my great grandad were brothers. I was Elaine Gande before I married. I have been following my ancestry and am keen to connect with this wonderful story.

    1. Welcome, Elaine! It’s great that you found “My Shanghai” and that you’re related to Bill Gande. He was a fascinating character in this story.

Just hover over “Vimeo On Demand” on the home page. This will take you to the Vimeo site where you’ll be able to buy or rent. Or simply go to https://vimeo.com/ondemand/myshanghai.

UPDATE (Jan. 21, 2022): “My Shanghai” will no longer be available on Vimeo after Feb. 2, 2022.

    2. Just thought I’d get in touch again to update you on “My Shanghai.” I don’t know if you’ve ever had a chance to see the film, but now you can watch it directly from this website for free. Best wishes, Pam

Let's hear from you
