Two wins for My Shanghai

Sept 28, 2014
Boulder, Colorado—Moondance International Film Festival recognized My Shanghai with two awards at its 15th annual event in Boulder. We’re so happy to have won these categories—
- FEATURE DOCUMENTARY COLUMBINE AWARD, to honor a film which reflects non-violent conflict resolution or alternatives to violence
- FILM SCORE SEA AWARD, to honor the fantastic original score composed by the fantastic Jonathan Geer
Thank you, Moondance!
So excited to hear how things go at SLO! We had a short film show there almost 17 years ago and the people there are fabulous. You will have a great experience!
Cool! That’s what we’re expecting, a great experience.
My Shanghai is one film I will be anxiously awaiting.
It looks like a beautiful film, very educational and personal. Virginia is a beautiful, intelligent, and interesting storyteller. Hopefully we will be able to see the film in Santa Barbara.
Sorry I couldn’t log in to watch the trailer…it keeps saying can’t be displayed…so how can I watch it???
Hmm… not sure. Try watching it directly on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/85493437
UPDATE (Jan. 21, 2022): “My Shanghai” will no longer be available on Vimeo after Feb. 2, 2022.
The trailer is live again with a YouTube link. Hope that works for everyone!
Just put the trailer on Facebook and Twitter. So happy and proud! Congratulations!!!
This is so exciting! The imagery, music, and your portrayal of Virginia’s story are simply poetic. Well done!
Barbara, that is very interesting…. I hope I get to see it. You have a lovely mother.
I really want to buy and see this film but I can’t seem to be able to buy or download. William James Gande was a relative of mine. His grandad and my great grandad were brothers. I was Elaine Gande before I married. I have been following my ancestry and am keen to connect with this wonderful story.
Welcome, Elaine! It’s great that you found “My Shanghai” and that you’re related to Bill Gande. He was a fascinating character in this story.
Just hover over “Vimeo On Demand” on the home page. This will take you to the Vimeo site where you’ll be able to buy or rent. Or simply go to https://vimeo.com/ondemand/myshanghai.
